Note: When it's time to safely remove the usb drive, I go to ext2 Manager, right click on my usb drive and do a "Flush cache to disk", then I do a "Safely remove" from the system tray normally. You have nothing to lose if you back everything up. So I didn't notice any difference myself but maybe it's something to consider, just putting it out there. I don't think you ever need to format it to FAT32 when doing kernel updates and such. It is also the filesystem that the internal memory of the PSC is in, so it has native support. The ext4 is a journalling filesystem so it may be safer to use than FAT32 and exFAT.
